I HATE HAVING MY PHOTO TAKEN!

Don't worry - a surprisingly large amount of people do! During a headshot session I'll be on hand to give advice, reassurance and little tricks to ensure your session's not only a really fun experience but even the most self conscious person ends up with final shots we're both proud of. We won't even start shooting until you feel comfortable, every session starts with a cup of tea and a chat to get to know each other and give me a full understanding of what you're looking to get out of your session

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO WEAR!

Don't hold this in until the day of the shoot! You're more than welcome to shoot me an email or two with some photos of outfit options which I can give advice for or against. In general it's best to stay away from heavy patterns, vertical or horizontal lines, and small checks (Gingham etc. Plaid and Tartan normally work though). If still in doubt, stick to block colours, and think character/casting - if you'd normally be cast as a business person, bring a suit. If you have a younger casting, bring T-shirts etc. Lucky enough to have a wide casting range? Bring a selection of different character options!

You'll be sent a link to an online gallery with watermarked, unedited proofs within 24 hrs, then once you've chosen your final images to be edited and retouched, these will be sent by email in JPG format within 1 week. These are worst case times though, turnarounds can be, and regularly are much quicker!

I PREFER BLACK AND WHITE TO COLOUR.

That's fine! Currently most Agents and Casting Directors prefer full colour headshots so I'd always recommend sticking with full colour and as such your proof gallery will be in colour, but you're in charge - if you'd like any or all of your images in black and white, let me know when choosing your final images and I can absolutely accomodate, however as black and white images would be edited differently to colour, the image can't be provided in both unless using 2 of your included final images. (i.e. on a Refresh package one image in both black and white and colour would leave one further image to be chosen)

HOW QUICK IS THE TURNAROUND?

Following your shoot a link to an online proof gallery of watermarked, unedited images will be provided within 24 hours. Once final images to be edited and retouched have been chosen, these will be sent via email in JPG format within 1 week. I SOMETIMES WORK WITH FACIAL HAIR.

We can absolutely work with facial hair during your session. I'd recommend coming to your session with a full beard, armed with a trimmer/OneBlade, and you can either shave completely once we have some bearded shots or shave in stages to get some full beard, some goatee, some moustache, even some mutton chops? Completely up to you! I would recommend a package with a longer session if you'd like to do this though to allow enough time for shaving.

THE LOVED ONE I'D LIKE TO HAVE A PORTRAIT OF IS A DOG.

Incredible news! Dogs and any animals which can stay reasonably still in front of a camera (including through bribery with treats) are more than welcome in the studio any time!

I'D LIKE A SESSION BUT I'M NOT BASED IN NEWCASTLE!

This is potentially less of a problem than you'd think! As I mostly work as a Stage Manager in touring theatre, I travel around the UK extensively. Send me an email to find out if I'll be in your city soon, if we can find a venue to shoot in, we can shoot!
